Thanks to its unique combination of ancient culture, incredible culinary scene and renowned technology industry, Tokyo is sure to present unforgettable experiences for travellers of all types.
The largest city in the world certainly has no shortage of fun activities and interesting spots. We recommend beginning your journey in the vibrant city at one of the centrally-located, colourful districts such as Akihabara, Harajuku, and Shinjuku. Here, you can marvel at the colourful billboards, bustling gaming arcades, and effervescent atmosphere. These are also great spots to shop in an expansive range of international and local shops and indulge in the city’s unique culture and trends.
For a more relaxed and peaceful time, be sure to visit one of the many lush gardens throughout the city. Ueno Onshi Park, Yoyogi Park, and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden are all popular spots and particularly beautiful during the change of seasons when the leaves turn orange or cherry blossoms bloom.
History and culture buffs should head to the northern district of Yanesen to visit some of the city’s most incredible ancient temples and shrines. Nezu Shrine, Meiji Jingu, and the 1,300-year-old Senso-ji are all memorable in their own right and have storied pasts.

No trip to Tokyo would be complete without experiencing the wonderful cuisine. Luckily, in Tokyo you are never too far away from a delicious dining spot - whether it be a local ramen restaurant, fresh sushi, or even katsu curry. Some of the most well-known foodie districts are Ginza, Shibuya, and Shinjuku. Dining at Omoide Yokocho is a must-have experience for all travellers with the whole street being lined with Yakitori eateries and bars serving sake. We would also recommend visiting Fukagawa Kamasho, a restaurant renowned for the traditional Japanese dish, ‘fukagawa-meshi’ (a lacquer bowl filled with broth-drenched rice and topped with Japanese clams).
