Upon your arrival in Frankfurt

Taxis are the most convenient way to reach the downtown area as it takes approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the train or S-Bahn (light rail). The ICE train will get you to Frankfurt’s Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) in around 12 minutes, while the S8 and S9 trains, travelling in the direction of Offenbach or Hanau, arrive in about 16 minutes.

Many interesting museums are also situated around Frankfurt, with some of the most popular being the Schirn Kunsthalle, Historisches Museum, and Archäologischer Garten. We also recommend the Stadel Museum as it boasts a fantastic collection of artworks, with some masterpieces originating from the 14th century.

Frankfurt is also renowned for being one of the birthplaces of European techno, and has plenty of bars and clubs where this can be experienced, especially in the districts of Sachsenhausen and Kleine Bockenheimer Strasse.

The town of Heidelberg is also worth a visit. Located an hour away from the city centre, it is home to Heidelberg Castle, which can be reached by taking a ride on the funicular. While here, we recommend seeing the world’s largest wine barrel - the Heidelberg Tun - and admiring the sprawling views of the Neckar River and town below.
