A Brief introduction to Philippines
Historical treasures, delicious food, and gorgeous beaches await visitors who visit the tropical paradise of the Philippines.
Start your trip to Manila by visiting some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including Manila Cathedral, Fort Santiago, and Casa Manila enclosed inside the Intramuros (or ‘walled city’).
Be sure to also experience Manila’s renowned food scene, with some of the most well-known dishes being Asado pork and ‘kare-kare’ (oxtail stew in peanut sauce). Finish off your meal with a slice of satisfying ‘buko pie’ (custard pie with condensed milk).
We also recommend visiting Manila Bay’s picturesque palm-lined promenade, which boasts beautiful white sand and azure blue waves.
From there, experience the beauty of Cebu in quintessential style - with a visit to one of the city’s famed beaches, such as Lambug Beach, White Beach or Paradise Beach. While here, marvel at the colourful coral reefs and vast schools of sardines, and observe the endangered whale shark from a distance.
For a deeper insight into the Philippines’ religious history, the Basilica of Santo Niño is a must-visit. Built almost 500 years ago, this sacred monument is home to the country’s oldest religious relic - an intriguing wooden doll created in the image of a youthful Jesus.
Cebu is also home to a plethora of other historical sites that are worth visiting, including Magellan’s Cross, the Lapu-Lapu Monument, and the Roman-style Temple of Leah.
