Flight route information

Upon your arrival in Shanghai

The most convenient way to get from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to the city centre is via taxi, which takes approximately 45 minutes. Shanghai’s train service will also get you downtown in around 25 minutes, while buses, which are available outside the airport terminal, take about 45 minutes. Alternatively, the Shanghai Metro will take you to numerous destinations in the city in just under an hour.

A brief introduction to Shanghai

China’s economic powerhouse, Shanghai is an international metropolis that fuses futuristic buildings with ancient Chinese culture, all of which is accentuated by a mouth-watering food scene.

Start your journey with a trip to The Bund - Shanghai’s world famous waterfront area. Here, you can find historical buildings lining one side of the Huangpu River, and modern skyscrapers on the other, such as The Shanghai Tower and The Pearl Tower. This area is also famous for its signature Art Deco architecture, which dates back to the 1930s.

Many ancient temples can also be found in Shanghai, such as the City God Temple, which was built during the Ming Dynasty. In the centrally-located Old City, you will find Yu Garden, where you can enjoy an abundance of natural sights. Built during the Ming Dynasty, this iconic park is home to the Exquisite Jade Rock, a 3.3-metre high boulder said to be a gift for the Huizong Emperor in the 1100s.

We also recommend visiting the French Concession - a charming area famed for its tree-lined avenues, live music, and independent boutiques. While here, be sure to indulge in one of the district’s many traditional dumpling restaurants or European style cafes.

Another area worth visiting is the beautiful Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Scenic Area in the south-central part of the city. Once known as a humble trading area, it boasts beautiful canals that provide the perfect backdrop and scenery for a relaxing stroll. While there, sample some of Shanghai’s tastiest dishes such as Xiaolongbao steamed dumplings and smoked fish slices.
