Upon your arrival in Guangzhou

A brief introduction to Guangzhou

Awash with exotic culture, ancient history, and incredible shopping and dining, the picturesque port city of Guangzhou is brimming with unique experiences.

Start your trip with the quintessential Guangzhou experience - by visiting the 600-metre tall Canton Tower. Holding the accolade of being the tallest TV tower in the world, the observation deck is the ideal place to get uninterrupted views of the entire cityscape and the beautiful Pearl River.

Many temples can be found throughout Guangzhou, with Guangxiao Temple and the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees being among the most notable. The Sacred Heart Cathedral is also worth visiting as it was built in 1888 and remains one of the only cathedrals in the world that is built entirely of granite.

Food lovers will appreciate the vast range of cuisines on offer in Zhujiang New Town as many of Guangzhou’s bars and restaurants are situated in that particular district. While here, we recommend trying some of the local favourites, which include ‘Har Gao’ (shrimp dumplings), ‘Kao Ru Zhu’ (roasted suckling pig), and egg tarts.

Taikoo Hui is a paradise for shopping enthusiasts as it has a floor area that spans approximately 138,000 square metres and is home to over 180 brands. From there, make your way to Huacheng Square, the biggest city square in Guangzhou. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing stroll past lush parks, beautiful ponds, and marvellous fountains. In the evening, you can enjoy spectacular close-up views of the Canton Tower and other high-rises in the Zhujiang New Town CBD (Central Business District) while they are all lit up. The square also hosts the Guangzhou International Light Festival every November.
