Upon your arrival in Sapporo

To reach Sapporo from the airport, we recommend taking the Rapid Airport line, which will take around 40 minutes to get you to the city centre. Taxis are also available from just outside the terminal and will take you wherever you need to be in just under an hour.

A popular place to start any visit to Sapporo is the beautiful and leafy Odori Park. Here, you can find the landmark Sapporo TV Tower, where many festivals and events are held throughout the entire year. From the summer’s excellent beer festivals and food markets to the impressive ice sculptures at Sapporo Snow Festival in the winter, there’s an event here for everyone.

Lining Odori Park, you will find a selection of some of Sapporo’s most popular museums including The Sapporo City Archive Museum, Gallery Odori Museum, and Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art.

The only one of its kind in Japan, the Sapporo Beer Museum can also be found nearby the city centre. Here, you can sample and explore the history of Sapporo’s eponymous beer, which is also found in restaurants and bars across the city. Eat like a local and pair Sapporo’s signature brew with culinary specialities such as ‘jingisukan’ (grilled mutton dish) or a hearty soup curry.
