Media artist Carla Chan’s Space Beyond series uses data to generate digital abstractions that resemble changing landscapes. A still image from this series titled May 1 Beijing depicts layered terrain beneath a pink sky.

Hong Kong artist Lau Yin Yeung paints meticulous and atmospheric seascapes. In Freighter sailing across the ocean at sunset, golden rays and light-limned clouds are depicted with impressive precision and lyricism.

Mixed-media artist Sophie Cheung rubs erasers on newsprint, then arranges the ink-stained erasers in abstract compositions inspired by Hong Kong’s urban landscape, such as the rocks and greenery used to fill space beneath the city’s flyovers.

Ink artist Chan Keng Tin explores the ethereal space between heaven and earth, with ambiguous compositions that evoke mountain peaks or crests of waves. Titled Formless, this series of ink paintings draws on Buddhist notions of ephemerality.

Large-format prints by Hong Kong-based British photographer William Furniss encapsulate his unique approach to lensing bodies of water. In Typhoon Shelter No. 6, Causeway Bay No. 2, and Aberdeen Harbour No. 3, water ripples become abstract streaks and patches of colour.

Fan Yan transmutes her classical musical training into structured compositions of dyed rice paper strips inspired by sound and rhythm. Mist in Gold entrances with its delicate pattern of blue, peach and amber hues.

Painter Elaine Chiu tells the story of Hong Kong’s changing architecture and urban landscapes. Under the Lion Rock renders the dense Kowloon buildings beneath Hong Kong’s iconic mountain peak in vibrant reds, oranges and pinks.
