This exhibition adopts a new and unique perspective to interpret the legacy of Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881–1973). It proposes an unprecedented cross-cultural and intergenerational dialogue between the twentieth-century European master and contemporary Asian artists.
Major works on view will include The Acrobat (1930), Figures by the Sea (1931), Large Still Life with Pedestal Table (1931), Portrait of Dora Maar (1937), and Massacre in Korea (1951) from the collection of Musée national Picasso-Paris. They will be presented alongside works by artists in the M+ Collections as a dialogue, such as Isamu Noguchi, Luis Chan, Gu Dexin, Nalini Malani, Tanaami Keiichi, and Haegue Yang, as well as new artist commissions by Simon Fujiwara and Sin Wai Kin.
